About Suzy Quinn Fitness

Hi, I’m Suzy

Welcome to Suzy Quinn Fitness! On this page, you can find out a little more about my background, my fitness journey and my qualifications. After reading it, I hope you’ll feel as though you know me a little better!

About Me

So, let me tell you a little bit about myself! I’m 27 years old and originally from a small town near Newcastle. When I was younger, being there with my Mam and the rest of my family was great, but I always felt drawn to the hustle and bustle of city life.

I left to attend the University of Leeds when I was 18. There, I studied International Business and completed a placement for a year in London at L’Oréal. I always had a passion for business, particularly marketing. Growing up, I never questioned that it was something I wanted to do. I graduated with a 1st Class Degree and decided to stay in Leeds to begin my career as a marketing executive.

After a couple of years, for various reasons, I decided the time had come for me to move on. I was ready to find a new challenge and that is how I arrived in Birmingham where I currently reside!

My friends and family would probably describe me as energetic, bubbly and someone who will laugh at virtually anything (especially TV shows like The Office US)! I love anything bubblegum flavoured and I love nothing more than a night in with a good movie and my favourite snacks!

My Fitness Journey

It’s a common misconception that all fitness coaches and personal trainers have always loved fitness and been in shape… I know I wasn’t! I didn’t really enjoy fitness or sports when I was at school and I was always slightly overweight. As I got older, I really struggled to motivate myself to workout. Truth be told, I was unsure about where I should even start!

Where I Started

At university, I gradually began to try and get fitter. I would go to the gym with one of my friends which helped with my motivation and accountability. However, I still struggled with my training plans and my nutrition. I have always been tall (Miss 5’11” over here), and I was always very conscious about my height and worried that I looked too masculine or stood out from the crowd. As a result, I was always afraid of the weights area in the gym because I thought weights just meant bulk. My eating habits were all over the place too. I thought if I dramatically slashed my calorie intake I’d lose weight faster, which was an unhealthy attitude to have.

Making A Change

Tired of feeling lost and making little progress, I decided to make a change. I fully committed to fitness. I did my research, I spoke to professionals and I developed a healthy approach to my fitness journey. In time, the results followed, and with them came a completely new mindset. The effect that regular exercise and good nutrition had on my life, my body and my self-image was incredible. Fitness was no longer a chore, or something to be intimidated by; I fell in love with it. I became a regular exerciser, working out six days a week, seeing continuous improvements and I’d never felt better!

Fitness transformed the way I felt about myself. I learned to love my body, I felt my self-confidence sky rocket and the clarity and peace it continues to give me has hugely benefited my mental health. I have come full circle and now, fitness is the biggest passion in my life.
